Funding for biodiversity
London continues to fail to make use of the funding that is available to support biodiversity projects in the Capital. Last year alone we had to 'hand back' over £400,000 of unclaimed monies that could have been spent on biodiversity in the capital.

Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund Grant Scheme 2009-2011
This scheme aims to reduce the adverse effects, and improve the benefits, that quarrying has on the environment, local area and its community. Priorities for 2009 - 2011 are:
- Bringing England's SSSIs into favourable management
- Improving the health and wellbeing of communities near quarry sites e.g. through the use of green space.
- Ecosystem services - maintaining biodiversity and the production of ecosystem goods e.g. food, timber, biomass fuels.
- Soils - helping to raise the profile of soils, recognising the vital functions they provide.
